As expected, the Houston Rockets have waived former NBA No. 1 draft pick Anthony Bennett, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania. The forward wasn't expected to make Houston's roster after undergoing surgery on his left knee.

Bennett was selected first overall in 2013 by the Cleveland Cavaliers but struggled through parts of four NBA seasons due to injuries and conditioning issues. He last played an NBA game for the Brooklyn Nets in 2016-17 and spent last season in the G League.

In 151 career games, the 26-year-old Canadian has averaged 4.4 points on 39.2 percent shooting.
