With the No. 43 pick of the 2019 NBA Draft, the Minnesota Timberwolves selected Washington shooting guard Jaylen Nowell.

Nowell was the go-to guy on offense for the Huskies, averaging a team-high 16.2 points per contest on 50.2 percent shooting this past season to lead Washington to its first NCAA Tournament berth since 2011. He made big strides in his outside game, increasing his efficiency from downtown by nearly 10 percent in between his freshman and sophomore season.

Nowell has steadily improved during his two years with the Huskies, going from the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team in his first season to the conference's player of the year the following season. The 19-year-old should help teams in need of some scoring punch off the bench.

What the analysts are saying

  • "Nowell led the Huskies to the top record in the Pac-12, flashing an improved jumper and a consistent perimeter scoring presence. He's got a good basketball body and positional size, although he's more of a scoring guard than a point and has had recurring issues with turnovers." - Sports Illustrated's Jeremy Woo
  • "His footwork is pristine and he's a high-level shooter who understands what an efficient shot is." - The Athletic's Sam Vecenie
