Police responded to a shooting at Nathan Phillips Square, the site of the Toronto Raptors' championship parade, on Monday afternoon.

Toronto police chief Mark Saunders says that a total of four people sustained gunshot wounds, according to CP24. Two suffered "serious but non-life-threatening" injuries and three were arrested after the incident, delaying the final portion of Monday's celebrations, which had already been pushed back by hours due to overcrowding on and at the end of the parade route.

Two firearms were also recovered, Toronto police added in a release.

Toronto police spokeswoman Allison Sparkes didn't confirm if it was a targeted shooting or terrorism-related as the investigation continues.

An estimated 1.5 million people attended the day's celebrations in and around downtown Toronto, according to ESPN.

Toronto Star reporter Jennifer Pagliaro captured the following scene from atop city hall at the time the shooting occurred:

The incident took place during the speeches portion of the parade. People in the surrounding crowd rushed away, as can be seen in the video. Proceedings were delayed a few minutes further as more information was gathered. Play-by-play announcer Matt Devlin updated the crowd and asked fans to remain calm.

Overcrowding was an issue throughout the day, with Nathan Phillips Square eventually being closed off. Several subway stations in the area were also shut down.
