Could this be the birth of the LaVar Ball curse?

After hearing reports that his son Lonzo Ball was among the three players the Los Angeles Lakers agreed Saturday to send to the New Orleans Pelicans for forward Anthony Davis, LaVar made a bold proclamation.

"Like I said, I guarantee - like I'll say it again - it'd be the worst move the Lakers ever did in their life and they'll never win another championship," he told ESPN's Ohm Youngmisuk. "I guarantee it."

"They're going to regret it," he added. "I'm gonna have fun with it. I told you all it's crashing down. Now it completely crashed but at least my son got off the boat before it exploded."

Lonzo was drafted second overall in 2017 out of UCLA after his father was adamant he would stay in Los Angeles. He has shown flashes of promise in two NBA seasons but has also been marred by knee and ankle injuries. He last played for the Lakers on January 19, when he suffered a Grade 3 sprain to his left ankle.

The Lakers weren't the only party LaVar had ominous predictions for.

"The expectation, too, in L.A. is a bit different," he said, according to 1550Sports' Dylan Stewart. "What I mean by that, (Anthony Davis), ain't nobody own you in New Orleans. There ain't no red carpet out there. But I tell you what, in L.A. you can go from sugar to shit real quick."
