Minnesota Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Town missed Friday's contest against the New York Knicks, as he entered the league's concussion protocol after being involved in a car accident Thursday, the team announced.

This marked the first game Towns has missed in his professional career after making 303 consecutive regular-season starts, which is the most to begin a career since 1970-71, according to ESPN Stats and Info.

Towns was driving to an airport in Minneapolis when the accident occurred, according to Chris Hine of the Star Tribune. He eventually made his way to New York but missed the team shootaround, and it's unclear whether he'll remain with the team for its next road contest.

The 23-year-old is averaging 23.1 points and 12 rebounds in 57 appearances.
