Most Michael Jordan fans know MJ wore No. 45 briefly upon his first return to the NBA in 1995. But, forgotten is the time five years before that when he wasn't able to don his legendary No. 23.

On this day 29 years ago, Jordan's regular road jersey was apparently stolen in Orlando before a game against the Magic. The Chicago Bulls didn't have a backup and he was forced to wear a generic No. 12 jersey.

The emergency threads made no difference, at least from a production standpoint. Jordan scored 49 points in a 135-129 overtime loss.
