NBA fans finally have a spread on a matchup that has evoked much debate over the past several days. All they need now is a time machine.
The Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook's Jeff Sherman says that the 2001 Los Angeles Lakers would be 12.5-point underdogs against the current Golden State Warriors if a hypothetical game was played at a neutral site, according to ESPN's Nick Friedell.
Remember: Shaquille O'Neal declared his former superteam would've "easily" beaten the reigning champs; Stephen Curry believes the current TNT analyst is "dead wrong."
In any case, here's how the teams' respective 10-man rotations would shake out, assuming everyone was healthy, of course:
POS | Lakers | Warriors |
---|---|---|
PG | Derek Fisher | Stephen Curry |
SG | Kobe Bryant | Klay Thompson |
SF | Rick Fox | Kevin Durant |
PF | Horace Grant | Draymond Green |
C | Shaquille O'Neal | DeMarcus Cousins |
6 | Ron Harper | Andre Iguodala |
7 | Brian Shaw | Jonas Jerebko |
8 | Robert Horry | Kevon Looney |
9 | Isaiah Rider | Quinn Cook |
10 | Mike Penberthy | Shaun Livingston |
With a 12.5-point spread, who would you bet on in this clash of dynasties?
