Report: Kings eyeing Wizards' Porter Jr.

The Sacramento Kings are interested in Washington Wizards forward Otto Porter Jr. and could potentially pursue a trade, sources told The Athletic's Jason Jones.

The Kings offered Porter Jr. a contract in 2017 when he was a restricted free agent but he chose to sign a four-year, $106-million deal with the Brooklyn Nets. That agreement was eventually matched by the Wizards.

He has three years remaining on his deal worth $81.8 million, including a 15 percent trade kicker.

The Wizards (8-13) may choose to break up their pricey trio of Porter Jr., John Wall, and Bradley Beal if they're unable to recover from their poor start.

Sacramento hasn't found a solution at small forward, currently starting Iman Shumpert with Justin Jackson and Troy Williams as backups.

Porter Jr. would supply the Kings with a legitimate 3-and-D threat after he averaged 14.7 points and hit 44.1 percent on 4.1 3-point attempts last season. He's struggled to replicate his success from a year ago, though, averaging 11.8 points on 36 percent from three through 20 contests.
