Mychal Thompson has developed into quite the storyteller, both as a radio color commentator for Los Angeles Lakers broadcasts and on social media. So when the former Lakers mainstay offers prognostications on the future of his son - Golden State Warriors star Klay Thompson - Mychal's words should probably be taken with a grain of salt.

When asked at a kickoff party for the Thompson Family Foundation golf tournament about whether Klay intended to remain with the Warriors long-term, Mychal didn't mince words.

“Oh yeah, you can mark it down,” the elder Thompson told the San Francisco Chronicle's Scott Ostler. “Klay’s going to retire in the Warriors’ uniform. He’s going to play at Chase Center, and he’s not going to be at Chase Center as a visiting player, he’s going to be a Warrior for the next seven or eight years.”

Thompson is under contract with Golden State for the 2018-19 season, after which he'll be eligible for a significant payday. Should the Warriors opt to foot the bill, they'll be able to offer the four-time All-Star more money than any other team.

“He’s got such a good thing here,” Mychal added. “The Warriors have such a special thing here. For the next six or seven years they’re going to be championship material, they’re not going to break that up."
