Report: Puma signs Bagley to most lucrative rookie shoe deal since Durant

Puma has forced its way into the basketball shoe landscape with a bang, reportedly signing projected top-five pick Marvin Bagley to the largest rookie shoe deal since Nike signed Kevin Durant, according to The Athletic's Jon Krawczynski.

The German brand is negotiating with other draft picks as well, per Krawczynski.

Durant landed a seven-year, $60-million deal and a $10-million signing bonus with Nike in 2007.

Puma ended their basketball line 17 years ago to concentrate on soccer and track, but are returning with hopes of bringing their profitability closer to Nike and Adidas, according to Reuter's Emma Thomasson.

Bagley was named a consensus first-team All-American in his lone season at Duke, and took home ACC Player of the Year honors while averaging 21 points and 11.1 rebounds in 32 games.
