Pelicans' Gentry fined $15K for ripping refs after loss to Rockets
New Orleans Pelicans head coach Alvin Gentry has been handed a $15,000 fine for his critical comments toward the officiating crew following his team's loss to the Houston Rockets Saturday, courtesy of FOX 26 KRIV's Mark Berman.
Gentry tore into the referees for failing to acknowledge what he believed were definite fouls by Rockets players on his team's superstar, Anthony Davis.
"He never gets a call. We talk about them holding him, we talk about them grabbing him on rolls, we talk about them coming under him on post-ups. He never gets the call," Gentry said. "Not one. And you know why? Because he doesn't b---- and complain about it. He just keeps playing the game."
Gentry was also hit with a technical foul in Saturday's contest after complaining about a debatable call on Pelicans guard Jrue Holiday. Holiday was whistled for a foul on a fourth-quarter 3-point attempt by James Harden.

Gentry is now the second consecutive opposing coach to be fined for criticizing officials after a game against the Rockets. Los Angeles Clippers bench boss Doc Rivers was also fined $15,000 for disagreeing with the referees after his club's 101-96 defeat to Houston on Thursday.
At least the penalty didn't come as a surprise to Gentry.
"And I'll take the damn fine that they're gonna give me tomorrow, that's fine," he correctly foreshadowed Saturday.
