Jazz's Gobert leaves game vs. Celtics, reportedly sprains MCL in left knee
The injury bug has bitten Rudy Gobert once again.
The "Stifle Tower" exited Friday's road game against the Boston Celtics just minutes into the first quarter with a left knee injury which ultimately ended his night early.
While Gobert still needs to undergo an MRI, an early evaluation suggests he may have a Grade 1 MCL sprain, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Gobert's teammate, Derrick Favors, went up for a putback at the rim, but was sent to the ground by Celtics big man Aron Baynes. On his way down, Favors crashed right into Gobert's left knee.
Gobert grabbed a single rebound and missed his only shot attempt before leaving.
Friday marked the 7-footer's sixth game back in the lineup after recovering from a bone bruise in his opposite knee caused by Miami Heat guard Dion Waiters diving into him.
Gobert is averaging a double-double of 12.2 points and 10.1 rebounds on 60.3 percent shooting for the 13-15 Jazz.
