Embiid regrets narrowly missing quadruple-double, shouts out Whiteside

Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid finished with a historic line Wednesday night of 46 points, 15 rebounds, seven assists, and seven blocks against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Embiid was disappointed he didn't notch a few more dimes and rejections during his 34 minutes of action, but still wanted a certain someone to take note.

"I wish I could have had a quadruple-double with blocks - shoutout, Hassan Whiteside," said Embiid, according to Philly.com's Keith Pompey.

Since 2015, only four times has a player blocked 10 or more shots in a game as a part of a triple-double, and they've all come from Whiteside.

Quadruple-doubles are much more rare, as there have been only four recorded in NBA history. San Antonio Spurs All-Star David Robinson notched the last one when he tallied 34 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists, and 10 blocks against the Detroit Pistons in 1994.

Still, no player had ever put up the numbers Embiid did Wednesday, which is something the 7-footer can hang his hat on.

Both he and Whiteside got into it on social media after a preseason matchup between Philly and the Miami Heat, with Embiid trolling Whiteside for what he felt was his inability to defend him.
