LeBron James used his footwear to make a statement during the NBA's season opener Tuesday night.

The Cleveland Cavaliers forward wore black Nike kicks with the word "equality" displayed on the back in gold with the trademark swoosh.

It was back in February when Nike began its "equality" campaign, with James predominately featured.

"If we can be equals here, we can be equals everywhere," said James during the end of the ad, which aired during both the Grammy Awards and NBA All-Star Game.

James has been extremely vocal over his displeasure with U.S. President Donald Trump in recent months, calling for Americans to unite during a period in which citizens are being split through political, social, and racial differences.
