Cuban: 10 percent chance I run for president

Any illusions of the presidency of the United States being a refined office open only to those who have served the public are gone forever, so the idea of electing another billionaire reality TV star isn't only possible, it's likely.

As such, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban says there's a 1-in-10 chance he'll run for the White House in 2020.

"Right now, I'd say it's 90 percent no and 10 percent yes, because I think my wife might divorce me," Cuban told ESPN's Tim MacMahon Monday.

Cuban appeared serious though, adding that he has over a year to figure out if he should mount a campaign.

"I've got 12, 18 months to decide," Cuban said. "If there's a situation where I feel that I can provide the best answer, then yeah, I'll do it. If there's a situation where there's somebody else that's better, then I'll support them. I'm more concerned with what's best for this country than what's best for me."

Cuban has been a frequent critic of President Donald Trump, from differences over economic policy to slamming Trump over his divisive rhetoric. He took another shot at the president Monday, noting Trump's use of the word "fired" in his stunning weekend attacks on protesting NFL players.

"The last time he said 'You're fired!' on The Apprentice, the ratings weren't that good," Cuban said. "Now saying it to the NFL, his poll ratings aren't so good either."

Cuban, 59, has an estimated net worth of $3.3 billion. He parlayed the sale of an early website, Broadcast.com, into buying the Mavericks in 2000. He's also been one of the stars of the reality show "Shark Tank" since 2011.
