The Boston Celtics signed free-agent point guard Shane Larkin to a one-year deal Thursday.

Larkin confirmed the deal in a text message to Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders.

He was the 18th overall pick in 2013 and bounced around three NBA franchises in three years before heading overseas last season. He landed with Baskonia in the Spanish ACB and averaged 13.1 points and 5.7 assists to establish himself as one of the best point guards on the international circuit.

The diminutive 24-year-old offers blazing quickness and an average jump shot. He projects to be the Celtics' third-string option.
