Report: Hawks hire Warriors assistant for GM vacancy

The Atlanta Hawks have picked Golden State Warriors assistant general manager Travis Schlenk to fill their GM vacancy, reports Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical.

Schlenk has served 16 years in the Warriors organization, with the last five as an assistant under GM Bob Myers, according to his team bio. His current role involves assisting Myers with day-to-day basketball operations, including all player-related issues.

The 41-year-old Schlenk boasts experience in all levels of basketball management. He worked in the video room, on the bench as an assistant coach with the Warriors, and in scouting before stepping into the front office.

Atlanta also considered Joe Dumars, Chauncey Billups, Brent Barry, David Griffin, and Neil Olshey in their search.

The Hawks shuffled their front office structure earlier this month when head coach Mike Budenholzer relinquished control over basketball operations, while former general manager Wes Wilcox resigned.
