The favorite

Martin Truex Jr. is the driver to beat at 4-1. I thought the No. 19 car should have been the favorite in the Coca-Cola 600, but Truex settled for sixth place despite leading for 87 laps.

The veteran's trending up, as he's recorded three straight top-10 finishes. If there's any course for Truex to get on the board, it's at Charlotte, where he's placed sixth or better in eight of the last nine tries.

Trending up

Had it not been for a crash at Darlington Raceway at the Toyota 500 last week, Chase Elliott (5-1) may have had the cleanest stat sheet over the last month - the 24-year-old has placed fourth or better in his last four full races.

Charlotte's also been kind to Elliott, who's finished fourth or better in three of his last four attempts at the course.

Keselowski (8-1) was first to cross the finish line Sunday, his first win at Charlotte since 2013. The 36-year-old's been solid on this track, posting six top-10 finishes over the last nine.

Trending down

Ryan Newman (25-1) kicked off the year placing inside the top 10 but has been quiet since. His average finish in the last three races is 18.6.

Charlotte's also been a tricky course for Newman, who hasn't placed better than 16th in each of his last four attempts.

Erik Jones (18-1) found a bit of momentum at Darlington Raceway with back-to-back top-10 finishes but settled for 11th on Sunday. I reckon he'll be somewhere in the middle of the pack when it's all said and done Wednesday, as he's been held out of the top 10 in each of his last four races at Charlotte.
