Brady steps in vs. Edwards at UFC London with Della Maddalena out
Sean Brady agreed to face former welterweight champion Leon Edwards in the main event of UFC London on March 22 after the promotion pulled Jack Della Maddalena from the card, UFC CEO Dana White announced Wednesday.
Brady, ranked No. 5 in the division, could secure a title shot with a win over Edwards. The 32-year-old Philadelphia native is coming off a unanimous decision win over Gilbert Burns in a UFC Fight Night main event last September. Brady has won two in a row and holds a 17-1 career record. His lone professional loss came against current 170-pound champ Belal Muhammad in 2022.
Edwards will be making his first Octagon appearance since dropping the title to Muhammad at UFC 304 last July in his home country of England. The unanimous decision defeat ended Edwards' 13-fight unbeaten streak.
The 33-year-old Birmingham resident captured the championship with a knockout win over Kamaru Usman in 2022 and defended it twice - against Usman and Colby Covington.
UFC London will also feature a pivotal light heavyweight matchup between former champ Jan Blachowicz and Carlos Ulberg.
