Pettis, Cyborg to defend titles at Bellator 279 in April

Bellator 279 is set to feature a pair of title fights.

Sergio Pettis will defend his belt against teammate Raufeon Stots on April 23 in Honolulu in the quarterfinals of the $1-million Bantamweight Grand Prix, the promotion announced.

Cris Cyborg is also scheduled to defend her women's featherweight title at the event in a rematch with Arlene Blencowe.

The promotion is also hosting Bellator 278 in Honolulu on April 22, but no fights have been announced for that card.

Bellator 279 will feature another grand prix matchup between Kyoji Horiguchi and Patchy Mix. Pettis knocked out Horiguchi in December to retain the title after getting dominated over the first three rounds of the fight.

Juan Archuleta, Magomed Magomedov, Leandro Higo, and James Gallagher are the other fighters set to contend in the eight-man bracket.

Cyborg submitted Blencowe in the second round of their October 2020 matchup. The legendary fighter has since extended her winning streak to four after recording knockout wins over Leslie Smith and Sinead Kavanagh.

Blencowe beat Dayana Silva and Pam Sorenson last year to earn a second crack at the champion.
