A middleweight bout between former champion Robert Whittaker and Darren Till is in the works to headline a UFC event on July 25, the promotion's president, Dana White, told Steve-O's "Wild Ride" podcast.

Whittaker-Till was initially scheduled as the UFC Dublin main event for Aug. 15, but that show is no longer expected to happen due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Whittaker lost the title to Israel Adesanya at UFC 243 last October. "The Reaper" was booked to face Jared Cannonier at UFC 248 in March, but Whittaker withdrew from the contest due to personal issues.

Till moved up to the 185-pound division in his last contest, defeating Kelvin Gastelum via decision at UFC 244 in November. That win snapped Till's two-fight skid, which included a title loss to Tyron Woodley and a knockout against Jorge Masvidal.

A location has not yet been confirmed for the card, but it's expected to take place on Fight Island.

White said a trilogy bout between Mauricio "Shogun" Rua and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira is being targeted as the co-main event for July 25.
