Reyes: It'd be 'disappointing' if Jones vacates title

Jon Jones' most recent challenger doesn't want to see the longtime UFC light heavyweight champion give up his belt.

Dominick Reyes, who lost to Jones in a 205-pound title fight at UFC 247 in February, said in a tweet Sunday that it'd be "disappointing" if Jones vacates the title amid a public spat with UFC president Dana White.

Jones has engaged in a back-and-forth with White over rumored financial demands for a heavyweight fight against Francis Ngannou. Jones called White a liar after the executive claimed the 32-year-old asked for an "absurd amount of money" for the bout.

On Friday, Jones dared the promotion to release him from his contract, and he claimed Sunday that he's going to relinquish his belt.

White said he considers Jones to be the greatest fighter of all time, but he believes Jones has tarnished his own legacy, presumably by getting in trouble with the law several times during his UFC career.

Jones suggested Sunday that the UFC book Reyes against Jan Blachowicz for the vacant title.

Jones' fight with Reyes was one of the most contested of his career, with many people scoring the bout for the challenger. Reyes called for an immediate rematch, and White said recently that he wants Jones to fight either Reyes or Blachowicz in his next bout.
