Former welterweight champion Tyron Woodley will fight Gilbert Burns in the UFC Fight Night main event on May 30, sources told ESPN's Ariel Helwani.

Burns wrote on Twitter that the fight is official.

Woodley hasn't stepped into the Octagon since his title loss to Kamaru Usman in March 2019. "The Chosen One" defended his belt four times, against Stephen Thompson (twice), Demian Maia, and Darren Till.

A rising star at 170 pounds, Burns is 3-0 since moving up to the weight class in 2019. Most recently, he knocked out Maia in the second round of the UFC Brasilia co-main event in March.

The May 30 event has not yet been officially announced, nor has its location been confirmed. The UFC was originally targeting May 23 for its next show, but that card was pushed back a week.

The promotion resumed operations amid the coronavirus pandemic earlier in May, holding three events in Jacksonville from May 9 to May 16. UFC president Dana White hopes to return to hosting events in Las Vegas, but that's pending approval from the Nevada Athletic Commission. White said last weekend that the UFC would opt for Arizona if it can't go to Las Vegas.
