Anders: 'Life hasn't changed one bit' with coronavirus

Despite uncertainty collecting his next UFC paycheck, middleweight Eryk Anders hasn't been impacted by the coronavirus like his peers have.

"To be honest with you, my life hasn't changed, not one bit," Anders told theScore. "The only thing that's changed is the times that we train. Our gym is closed but the (professional) team still comes in. (UFC heavyweight) Walt (Harris) and I are still getting ready … (and we) have no idea when we're going to fight. But we're staying in shape. It's not as big a deal for him because he doesn't have to cut weight. But for me, I’m still trying to keep my weight low and stay ready to go."

Anders (13-4) was scheduled to face Krzysztof Jotko at UFC Portland on April 14. However, restrictions due to the coronavirus have postponed all UFC events with a confirmed date currently unknown. Unlike some fighters, Anders isn't stressing about his finances and has profitable side investments with his wife to keep his family afloat.

"My wife, you know, literally everything she touches turns to gold," Anders explained. "Before her, I'd probably be in a different situation. But she's really showed me how to manage money, how to invest money. And you know, what not to spend money on and things like this. So in times like this or at the end of my career when it's over with, everything's going to be straight."

Anders is 5-4 with the UFC and also won the 2009 BCS national title with the University of Alabama Crimson Tide as a linebacker.
