UFC Uruguay: Preview, pro picks, and interviews
UFC Fight Night 156 takes place Saturday at Antel Arena in Montevideo, Uruguay, where women's flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko defends her title in the main event against Liz Carmouche.
Shevchenko (17-3) is coming off a highlight-reel victory over Jessica Eye at UFC 238 where she won by head-kick knockout in the second round. "The Bullet" has won five of her last six fights.
Carmouche (13-6) has won four of her last five fights, including a unanimous decision victory over Lucie Pudilova at UFC Prague in February. The former bantamweight title challenger defeated Shevchenko by TKO (doctor stoppage) at C3 Fights in September 2010.
The co-feature pits a pair of explosive welterweights against each other, as Brazil's Vicente Luque squares off against Mike Perry.
Luque (16-6-1) is 9-1 in his last 10 fights, his lone loss coming against top contender Leon Edwards at UFC Fight Night 107 in March 2017. The 27-year-old recorded all nine of those wins by stoppage.
Perry (13-4) is coming off a unanimous decision win over Alex Oliveira at UFC Fort Lauderdale in April. "Platinum" is 2-2 in his last four fights.
