Rafael dos Anjos and Leon Edwards will headline UFC San Antonio in a five-round fight on July 20, UFC president Dana White told Yahoo Sports' Kevin Iole on Thursday.
The welterweight showdown was believed to be a candidate for the UFC 242 card in September, but will instead be the main event for the upcoming UFC Fight Night.
Dos Anjos and Edwards are both coming off victories. The former submitted Kevin Lee in May, while the latter earned a split decision over Gunnar Nelson in March.
Despite dropping two of his last three fights, Dos Anjos is the third-ranked contender in the welterweight division.
The promotion looked to move the Luke Rockhold-Jan Blachowicz fight from UFC 239 to the UFC San Antonio main event, but Rockhold is filming a Ralph Lauren commercial the same day.
Heavyweight tilts pitting Ben Rothwell against Andrei Arlovski, and Greg Hardy against Juan Adams are among the other noteworthy bouts slated for UFC San Antonio.
