Max Holloway successfully defended his featherweight title Saturday night at UFC 231, but he may not be long for the division.

After Holloway defeated No. 1 contender Brian Ortega via fourth-round TKO (doctor's stoppage), UFC president Dana White said he'd like to see the featherweight champion join the lightweights.

"He looked so good tonight, but I think there's a lot more opportunity for him at 155," White told FS1's Megan Olivi. "There's a lot of great fights we can make for him at 155. He doesn't have to go through dangerous weight cuts. I would like to see him go to '55."

The possibilities appear to be endless at lightweight. Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, Tony Ferguson, and Conor McGregor are all potential opponents. McGregor is the last man to hand the 20-3 Holloway a defeat, via unanimous decision in 2013.

In Saturday's co-main event, Valentina Shevchenko earned a decisive victory over Joanna Jedrzejczyk for the women's flyweight title. The loss is Jedrzejczyk's third in her last four fights, with every defeat coming in a title bout.

White said he'd like to see the former strawweight champion drop back down to the 115-pound weight class.
