Coker: Chandler vs. Yamauchi winner to challenge Primus for Bellator title

Bellator MMA

Michael Chandler may soon close the book on his beef with Brent Primus after all.

As Bellator president Scott Coker told Ariel Helwani on Monday's edition of "The MMA Hour," the winner of Bellator 192's fight between the former lightweight champ and Goiti Yamauchi will challenge Primus - who won the divisional crown when Chandler suffered a freak ankle injury in the first round of their meeting at Bellator NYC.

Chandler had been expected to face Primus in a rematch due to the surreal ending of their June bout, but fatherhood sidelined the reigning champ soon thereafter, with each fighter subsequently accusing the other of turning down the matchup. The 31-year-old Chandler recently stated he was done chasing a second date with Primus - whom he's condemned as a part-time fighter - although it appears he'll have earned one should he get by the streaking Yamauchi, says Coker.

The former titleholder meets Yamauchi this Saturday at the Forum in Inglewood, Calif.
