New York Yankees fans let Juan Soto hear it in his first trip to the Bronx since signing a 15-year, $765-million contract with the New York Mets in the offseason.

Soto heard boos when his name was introduced and when he stepped to the plate in the first inning Friday. He jokingly took off his helmet and saluted the crowd before drawing a walk.

"I think so," Soto said of the boos being the loudest he's ever received, per SNY. "They were really loud."

A number of Yankees fans turned their backs to Soto when he ran out to his perch in right field when the home team came to bat in the bottom of the first.

"I was ready for it," Soto said of the reception. "They're really passionate fans. They were hurt, and they're going to do the best for their teams, and they just feel that way."

Soto finished the game with three walks and one run scored in two official at-bats. He flew out to center field with runners on second and third in the top of the ninth inning to end a 6-2 victory for the Yankees.
