Los Angeles Angels reliever right-hander Ben Joyce is expected to miss the rest of the season after undergoing shoulder surgery, the team announced Wednesday.
Joyce has been sidelined since April 9 with right shoulder inflammation. He also had an IL stint at the end of the 2024 regular season for the same injury.
Joyce has a reputation as one of hardest-throwing pitchers in baseball. The 24-year-old averaged more than 101 mph with his fastball in 4 1/3 innings this season. His heater averaged an impressive 102.4 mph in 2024.
Joyce owns a career 4-1 record with a 3.12 ERA, 8.08 K/9, and 4.41 BB/9 across 48 appearances.
