The Atlanta Braves placed right-hander Reynaldo López on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation, the club announced Monday.

The Braves recalled right-hander Bryce Elder to take López's turn in the rotation for Wednesday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

López struggled in his first outing of the season, allowing nine hits and striking out one batter in five innings against the San Diego Padres.

The 31-year-old authored a breakout season in 2024, earning his first All-Star nod. López finished the campaign with a 1.99 ERA and 148 strikeouts across 135 2/3 innings. He was sidelined for just over two weeks in September with shoulder inflammation.

Elder made 10 starts for the Braves last season. The 25-year-old went 2-5 with a 6.52 ERA across 49 2/3 innings. Elder's best year came in 2023 when he made his first All-Star Game and posted a 12-4 record with a 3.81 ERA in 31 starts.
