Infielder Bobby Dalbec is changing his Sox.

The Chicago White Sox announced Tuesday that they signed the former Boston Red Sox top prospect to a minor-league deal, which includes a non-roster invite to spring training.

Dalbec will make $1.25 million if he reaches the majors and can earn an additional $500,000 through incentives, according to Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com. The contract reportedly includes opt-out clauses in June and July.

The 29-year-old struggled mightily in 2024 to a .133/.217/.193 slash line with one home run and eight RBIs in 37 games with Boston before being designated for assignment in September.

However, MLB Pipeline ranked Dalbec as the Red Sox organization's No. 3 prospect entering the 2020 season.

He delivered a first impression worthy of that promise, slugging eight home runs in just 92 plate appearances. Dalbec then went deep 25 times with a .792 OPS (107 OPS+) in 2021 but went into a multi-year tailspin afterward.

Still, Dalbec should have a good chance at cracking the Opening Day roster for a White Sox team coming off a record 121-loss season in 2024.

His career OPS stands at .714 (91 OPS) across five MLB seasons.
