Guardians place Kwan on IL, DFA Carrasco
The Cleveland Guardians placed All-Star outfielder Steven Kwan on the injured list with a back injury, the club announced Tuesday.
The Guardians also designated veteran right-hander Carlos Carrasco for assignment and recalled outfielder Myles Straw.
Kwan has been sidelined since Sept. 12 with back soreness. The 27-year-old is hitting .176 with zero extra-base hits across 10 games in September. Kwan has struggled since the All-Star break, slashing .201/.305/.284 with seven extra-base hits and 16 RBIs in 51 games.
Carrasco has been on the injured list since Aug. 9 with a left hip strain. The 37-year-old posted a 3-10 record with a 5.64 ERA in 21 starts this season.
Straw has spent the entire season at Triple-A after the Guardians placed him on outright waivers in March. The 29-year-old is hitting .240 with three home runs, 40 RBIs, and 30 stolen bases this season for the Columbus Clippers.
