New York Yankees fans serenaded star outfielder Juan Soto with chants of "Please stay, Soto" during Sunday's victory over the Colorado Rockies.

Soto is an impending free agent and is expected to command one of the richest contracts in MLB history in the offseason.

The 25-year-old acknowledged the fans' chants, waving in response. Following the game, Soto said fans would have to "talk to (general manager Brian) Cashman," according to MLB.com's Bryan Hoch.

Soto and the Yankees haven't held any extension talks during the season. Cashman said in February that he believed Soto would likely test free agency.

Soto has been excellent in his first season with the Yankees after he was acquired from the San Diego Padres last December. He has 37 home runs, 95 RBIs, and a 1.035 OPS across 127 games.

Soto has formed an intimidating one-two punch to anchor the Yankees' lineup alongside AL MVP favorite Aaron Judge.

"The fans are excited, they've got every right to be," Judge said. "He's an incredible player, he's done a lot for us this year, and I think they definitely want to see a lot more of that to come. It's going to be his decision in the end, what's best for him and his family. So we can only do what we can."

The Yankees are 77-54 this season and own the best record in the American League.
