Gurriel was down for several minutes while being tended to, and he left the field with his hand wrapped in a towel. X-rays came back negative, and he received two stitches on his right middle finger, the team announced.
Bench coach John Schneider, who managed Thursday's game, said Gurriel sustained no structural damage to the finger.
"Everything we've heard is, I think, the best news we could get," Schneider said, according to Keegan Matheson of MLB.com.
Corey Dickerson took over in left field.
The 27-year-old has been one of Toronto's hottest hitters during its September resurgence. Gurriel entered Thursday's contest hitting .360/.424/.760 with seven home runs and 14 extra-base hits in 21 games this month.
