Dodgers' Kershaw to make rehab start in Triple-A Tuesday

Clayton Kershaw is one step closer to rejoining the Los Angeles Dodgers' rotation.

The three-time Cy Young Award winner, who's been sidelined since early July due to left forearm inflammation, will make a three-inning rehab appearance for Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday, manager Dave Roberts announced, according to Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times.

Kershaw reportedly threw to hitters during a two-inning simulated game in San Francisco on Saturday and experienced no issues. He'll throw another bullpen session Sunday at Oracle Park before heading to Oklahoma City, according to Castillo.

It's possible Kershaw will make just one start in the minors before jumping back into the Dodgers' rotation.

"I think it's just three innings, pitch in a game, go through the half-inning where you're on the bench, go through the regular rhythm of a start," Roberts said Friday, according to Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register. "Then after he gets through that - we would assume healthy and all goes well - the next outing would be with us."

Kershaw last pitched in a game on July 3, throwing just four innings against the Washington Nationals. The Dodgers placed him on the IL a few days later, a stint that ended up longer than initially expected.

The 33-year-old was enjoying another excellent campaign before his injury, posting a 3.39 ERA, 2.98 FIP, and 0.98 WHIP with 127 strikeouts and 19 walks across 106 1/3 innings.
