Kyle Schwarber may not be in a Washington Nationals uniform when he returns from the injured list.

The slugger is expected to be traded before Friday's deadline, according to the New York Post's Joel Sherman. The Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, and Toronto Blue Jays are reportedly showing interest.

Schwarber has been on the IL since July 3 with a severe hamstring injury and is a few weeks from a return. However, with the Nationals dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak, he's helping out on the bench in a coaching role on Thursday.

Prior to his injury, Schwarber was having a terrific season. The 28-year-old is hitting .253/.340/.570 with 25 home runs and 53 RBIs in 72 games. He crushed 16 homers during an 18-game stretch in June.

The one-time All-Star is eligible for free agency at the end of the season and is owed the remainder of his $7-million salary. He has an $11.5-million mutual option - with a $3-million buyout - attached to his contract for 2022.
