Scherzer scratched from start with triceps discomfort
Washington Nationals ace Max Scherzer won't make his scheduled start against the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday due to mild right triceps discomfort, the team announced, according to MASN's Mark Zuckerman.
The 36-year-old felt soreness while swinging, reports Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post.
Washington hopes Scherzer will avoid the injured list and can pitch again in a few days, Dougherty adds.
"He's assuming and expecting to make his next start, and so am I," Nationals manager Dave Martinez said, according to MASN's Pete Kerzel.
Scherzer, who's involved in trade rumors ahead of the July 30 deadline, owns a 7-4 record with a 2.83 ERA and 142 strikeouts in 105 innings.
Left-hander Jon Lester will replace Scherzer as Saturday's starter for Washington.
