Strasburg could see another specialist for continued neck discomfort
Washington Nationals right-hander Stephen Strasburg could see another specialist after experiencing discomfort in his neck during a recent throwing session, Nationals manager Dave Martinez said Friday, according to MASN's Mark Zuckerman.
Strasburg has been on the injured list since early June because of a neck strain. Washington shut him down from throwing at one point due to nerve irritation.
"We need to figure something else out for him," Martinez said.
Strasburg missed time earlier in the season with a shoulder injury and has made only five starts in 2021. Injury issues limited him to two appearances in 2020.
The 33-year-old signed a seven-year, $245-million contract with the Nationals after earning World Series MVP honors in 2019. Strasburg is a three-time All-Star and led the National League with 18 wins in 2019.
