Astros' Correa: Vibes around this team 'remind me of '17 and '19'
Shortstop Carlos Correa is seeing similarities between this year's Astros and Houston's World Series teams from 2017 and 2019.
"I believe in this team. I got a great feeling about this team," Correa said Sunday following the Astros' 14-3 win over the Minnesota Twins, according to Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle. "Everyone is on the same page. The vibes in the clubhouse remind me of '17 and '19. I really love this team."
Houston won a title in 2017 but fell to the Washington Nationals during the 2019 Fall Classic.
The Astros (37-28) put up a season-high 20 hits during Sunday's blowout, and they've now won four straight series.
"This is a team that I feel like for a few years has been accustomed to winning, so I don't think it's a big surprise on any given day," Houston slugger Yordan Alvarez said, according to Brian Hall of The Associated Press. "Every single guy on the team is capable of doing a lot of good things, and that's what we were able to do today."
The Astros currently occupy the AL's second wild-card spot and sit two games back of the Oakland Athletics for the AL West lead.
