The San Diego Padres are expected to welcome Fernando Tatis Jr. back from his stint on the 10-day IL on Friday before a three-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers, according to Dennis Lin of The Athletic.

Tatis, 22, has been sidelined since April 5, missing time due to left shoulder inflammation.

The superstar shortstop has been taking live batting practice, and manager Jayce Tingler stated that Thursday was his best day in his recovery "as far as his at-bats" go.

Friday will mark the first of 19 meetings between the Padres and Dodgers this year, as the pair of division rivals are expected to compete for NL West supremacy all season.

Tatis was lifted from a game after striking out during a plate appearance against the San Francisco Giants. Immediately following the swing-and-miss, Tatis fell to the ground in pain and was tended to by trainers.

The 2020 Silver Slugger was diagnosed with a partial dislocation of his left shoulder. After further imaging, the injury was deemed non-surgical and Tatis was placed on the injured list as a precaution.

Through five games this year, Tatis is 3-for-18 with one homer and three walks.
