Biden: Rangers making 'mistake' staging full-capacity home opener

U.S. President Joe Biden isn't impressed with the Texas Ranges' decision to allow 100% capacity for their 2021 season opener amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Well, that's a decision they made. I think it's a mistake," Biden said, according to Alden Gonzalez of ESPN. "They should listen to Dr. (Anthony) Fauci, the scientists, and the experts. But I think it's not responsible."

Globe Life Field - which seats up to 40,300 spectators - is the only MLB stadium that will allow a full-capacity crowd for the first home game of the campaign when the Rangers face the Toronto Blue Jays on April 5.

Fans will be required to wear masks inside the ballpark except when eating or drinking in their seats, and capacity will be scaled back for subsequent games.

Texas no longer has a statewide mask mandate, and businesses are allowed to operate at full capacity. The state is allowing anyone 16 or older to get a vaccine shot.
