American League MVP Jose Abreu will remain away from the Chicago White Sox for several days after testing positive for COVID-19, general manager Rick Hahn announced Wednesday, according to The Athletic's James Fegan.

Abreu is asymptomatic and believes he contracted a mild case of the disease in January.

"Other than being frustrated, Jose feels great and, like the rest of us, is looking forward to when he rejoins the club in the not too distant future," Hahn said in a statement.

The 34-year-old took home last season's MVP award after hitting .317/.370/.617 while leading the league in hits, RBIs, and total bases.
