The Los Angeles Dodgers will hand the ball to one of their rookie starters with a chance to win their first World Series since 1988.

Right-hander Tony Gonsolin will start Game 6 on Tuesday against Tampa Bay Rays left-hander Blake Snell, manager Dave Roberts announced, according to Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times.

Roberts mentioned using Gonsolin as more of a traditional starter rather than an opener on Tuesday and would like to see him pitch five or six innings, according to Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register.

Gonsolin has struggled during the playoffs, allowing eight runs - three home runs - over 7 2/3 innings while striking out nine and walking seven. He started Game 2 of the World Series and gave up one run over 1 1/3 innings.

Roberts should have a fully rested bullpen to use behind Gonsolin with a day off on Monday. The Dodgers manager said everyone except Clayton Kershaw, Walker Buehler, and Julio Urias should be available to pitch in Game 6, according to Plunkett.

Buehler is slated to start Game 7 on Wednesday if the series goes the distance. Roberts said he didn't consider using Buehler on three days' rest in Game 6.
