The Houston Astros came up short in the ALCS against the Tampa Bay Rays, losing 4-2 in Saturday's decisive Game 7.

After the loss, shortstop Carlos Correa had nothing but praise for the club and his teammates.

"I'm just f------ proud of this team, man," Correa said, according to Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle. "It's been an unbelievable ride. I've never had more fun playing baseball than I did this year with this group of guys."

Correa and the Astros had a chip on their shoulders this postseason in the wake of a sign-stealing scandal stemming from the club's World Series victory in 2017. Houston was also one of two teams to reach the playoffs despite a losing record in the regular season.

The 26-year-old came up clutch multiple times during the 2020 postseason, mashing six home runs - including the walk-off blast that forced Game 7 - across three playoff series. He capped things off by driving in the Astros' only two runs on Saturday night.

Starter Lance McCullers Jr. echoed Correa's sentiments, adding that seeing the season end on Saturday was painful because a "couple guys" might not be on the team going forward, according to Brian T. Smith of the Houston Chronicle.

While many key pieces of the core will remain under contract going forward, outfielders Michael Brantley and George Springer are both hitting free agency this offseason.
