Francona to enter Indians' postseason bubble

Cleveland Indians manager Terry Francona won't manage again during the regular season but will enter the club's postseason bubble in preparation for a return, Indians president of baseball operations Chris Antonetti said Wednesday, according to Ryan Lewis of the Akron Beacon Journal.

Francona has missed most of the 2020 campaign while recovering from a blood-clot procedure.

Sandy Alomar Jr. has acted as Cleveland's manager in Francona's absence.

There is no indication of when Francona will return, but entering the Indians' postseason bubble allows the 61-year-old to be around the team even if he isn't managing.

Francona has been Indians skipper since 2013, amassing a 669-518 record. He's a two-time AL Manager of the Year and helped Cleveland reach the World Series in 2016.
