New York Mets general manager Brodie Van Wagenen said Sunday that the team doesn't know where outfielder Yoenis Cespedes is after he didn't report to the ballpark before the club's road game against the Atlanta Braves.

"As of game time, Yoenis Cespedes has not reported to the ballpark today," Van Wagenen said in a statement, according to The Athletic's Tim Britton. "He did not reach out to management with any explanation for his absence. Our attempts to contact him have been unsuccessful."

The Mets, as of this moment, have no reason to believe that Cespedes' safety is at risk, reports Anthony DiComo of MLB.com.

Cespedes, 34, is a two-time All-Star. He returned to the New York's lineup this season after not playing since 2018 due to multiple injuries.
