The Philadelphia Phillies acquired outfielder Kyle Garlick from the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for minor-league left-hander Tyler Gilbert, the team announced Saturday.

Garlick was designated for assignment by the Dodgers on Monday following the acquisitions of Mookie Betts and David Price.

The 28-year-old made his major-league debut last season and slashed .250/.321/.521 in 30 games with L.A. He posted a 1.057 OPS in 304 plate appearances for Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Gilbert, 25, put up a 2.83 ERA and 1.11 WHIP with 46 strikeouts, 14 walks, and two saves in 36 appearances for Triple-A Lehigh Valley last season. The native of Santa Cruz, California, has yet to reach the majors but was among Philadelphia's non-roster invitees to big-league camp this spring.

To make room for Garlick on the 40-man roster, the Phillies designated outfielder Nick Martini for assignment.
