CC Sabathia's career is coming to an end after this season, and he wants to throw his final inning in a playoff game.

The veteran left-hander, who's been dealing with a left shoulder injury, will participate in a bullpen session on Wednesday to determine if he's healthy enough to make the New York Yankees' American League Championship Series roster.

"I feel pretty good," the 39-year-old said Monday, according to Brendan Kuty of The Star-Ledger. "It's just up to (the team). So we'll wait and see how I bounce back. I'll throw the bullpen and, like I said, go from there."

Sabathia was not on the Yankees' roster for their ALDS sweep of the Minnesota Twins because of the shoulder issue.

The southpaw hasn't pitched in a game since Sept. 24. He was on New York's bench during the team's 3-0 series win over the Twins, which he called "nerve-racking," according to MLB.com's Bryan Hoch.

If Sabathia does make the ALCS roster, there's no indication of what role he would fill. The winner of 251 career games made 23 starts for the Yankees during the regular season, but manager Aaron Boone was prepared to use him as a reliever during the postseason before his shoulder flared up.

The Yankees are set to meet either the Tampa Bay Rays or the Houston Astros in the ALCS beginning Oct. 12.
