The American League's playoff picture has taken shape.

The Houston Astros clinched the best record in the AL on Friday with their 105th win of the season, setting up an ALDS matchup with the winner of the wild-card game between the Tampa Bay Rays and Oakland Athletics on Oct. 2 in a still-to-be-determined location. The Astros went 11-8 against the A's this season, and 3-4 against the Rays.

Meanwhile, the New York Yankees will open their ALDS matchup with the Minnesota Twins on Oct. 4 at Yankee Stadium. The two teams are the only clubs in major-league history to hit at least 300 home runs in a single season. New York won the season series 4-2, outscoring Minnesota 43-38, but they haven't faced each other since late July.

Team Home Road
Astros 60-21 45-34
Yankees 57-24 46-33
Twins 46-35 54-25
Athletics 52-29 44-35
Rays 48-33 48-31

The postseason opens Tuesday with the National League wild-card game between the Washington Nationals and either the St. Louis Cardinals or Milwaukee Brewers.
